1945

September
On Sept 9th, 1945 a moth was found in a computer. This is the origin of the term debugging. On September 9, 1945, a moth was "found trapped between points at Relay # 70, Panel F, of the Mark II Aiken Relay Calculator while it was being tested at Harvard University". The operators taped the moth to the computer log, with an entry of "First actual case of bug being found". They announced that they had debugged the machine. This is the origin of the term "debugging".
